The three men who flit in and out of the protagonist’s life in Aparna Sen’s upcoming film Iti Mrinalini have been finalised. They are Rajat Kapoor, Priyanshu Chatterjee and Koushik Sen.
The film, which stars Aparna along with daughter Konkona Sensharma, rolls on the floors from October 6. It is produced by Shree Venkatesh Films.
Iti Mrinalini revolves around actress Mrinalini and her “lifetime of memories”, Aparna had told t2. Aparna plays the older Mrinalini, while Konkona plays the younger one.
Rajat plays a film director who is in a relationship with the young Mrinalini. “My character is set in the Seventies and Aparna is coming down to Mumbai to do a workshop with me,” Rajat told t2 from Mumbai.
Priyanshu, who was recently in Calcutta to shoot Potadar Kirti, is excited to have bagged a film with the director he has always admired. “I play Imtiaz Chowdhury, a film director. The script was sent to me a couple of days back and I just loved it. I have already workshopped with Sohag Sen,” he said.
The third man in Mrinalini’s life, played by Koushik, is a south Indian writer. “My character, Chintan Nair, is set in the Eighties and all my scenes are with Konkona. But I have my fingers crossed because I was supposed to work with Rinadi (Aparna) in a documentary and then in Goynar Baksho but neither happened,” laughed Koushik.
Locket Chatterjee plays Rajat’s wife Maithili. “Mine is a very glamorous role and I am really looking forward to it,” said she.
Aparna’s backstage men comprise Debojyoti Mishra as music composer and Challenge cinematographer Somak Mukherjee as the DoP.
