A father was teased that his son would be told about all the women he used to chase. A former frontbencher was ribbed by his backbencher batchmates. A couple remembered their days of romance on campus....
The second alumni day organised by GAABESU (Global Alumni Association of Bengal Engineering and Science University) at the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (formerly Besu), Shibpur, was all this and much more.

Around 650 alumni gathered for the reunion titled Shibpur Calling Alumni Day, partnered by The Telegraph, which included a debate on alumni-institute interface, a business meet, performances by ex-students, lunch and a cultural programme.

The eldest at the reunion was Himanshu Kumar Banerjee of the 1948 batch, who said he still remembers and cherishes “every memory of my college days”.

Partha Pratim Roy, the secretary of GAABESU, felt the reunion was a “great success”. “Amidst all the fun, various important issues have also been addressed in the debate and the business meet. This would not have been possible without the help and participation of all the ex-students, even those who have not been able to make it today. Next year we plan to make it even bigger,” said the ex-student of the 1997 batch.
