Gladiator II, John Wick Ballerina, Mufasa, Wicked: Teasers, trailers showcased at CinemaCon 2024

The convention in Las Vegas was attended by major studios including Disney, Paramount, Universal, Lionsgate and Warner Bros.

The curtains fell on CinemaCon 2024, the premier global exposition for the film industry, on April 11 in Las Vegas, USA. Present at this extravaganza were industry giants such as Disney, Paramount, Universal, Lionsgate, and Warner Bros. These studios took the stage to unveil teasers and trailers for a plethora of eagerly awaited films. Here are the standout announcements from CinemaCon 2024.

Warner Bros.


Warner Bros. teased audiences with fresh glimpses of the highly anticipated prequel Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga at CinemaCon. According to DiscussingFilm, attendees were treated to new footage divided into three acts, offering insights into different phases of Furiosa's life.

Following this, the studio trailer for Joker 2: Folie à Deux, which depicts the tumultuous relationship between Arthur Flake (Joaquin Phoenix) and Harley Quinn (Lady Gaga), was unveiled. Directed by Todd Phillips, the film is slated for release on October 4.

The premiere trailer for Bong Joon-ho's sci-fi odyssey Mickey 17 starring Robert Pattinson was also shared at the event. However, it remained exclusive to CinemaCon attendees.


Lionsgate brought its own trove of treasures to CinemaCon. Among the highlights were announcements for the third instalment of Now You See Me and a Jason Blum-helmed remake of the horror classic The Blair Witch Project. Conversations also buzzed around the live-action adaptation of Naruto and a cinematic take on the beloved board game Monopoly, spearheaded by Margot Robbie's LuckyChap production company. Additionally, the first trailer of Michael, a biopic on Michael Jackson, was screened at the event.

However, it was the first trailer of Ballerina, a spin-off to the John Wick film series, that stole the spotlight at CinemaCon. According to DiscussingFilm, the trailer delves into the origin story of Ana de Armas' character, depicting her transformation into an elite assassin under the tutelage of the Ruska Roma crime family. Set between the third and fourth John Wick instalments, Ballerina is slated for release on June 6, 2025.

Universal Pictures

Universal's presentation at CinemaCon showcased the studio’s plans for a fall 2025 release of the sequel to Five Nights at Freddy's, building on the success of its predecessor. Additionally, teasers were shared for Despicable Me 4, The Wolf Man, Twisters, and Wicked starring Ariana Grande. Audiences were also treated to a sneak peek of Robert Egger's adaptation of Nosferatu and the first trailer for the remake Speak No Evil featuring James McAvoy.

Paramount Pictures

Paramount Pictures made waves at CinemaCon with the announcement of a crossover between Transformers and G.I. Joe, along with the debut trailer for Transformers One, promising a fresh perspective on the beloved franchise.

Fans of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise have a reason to celebrate as the studio has announced a sequel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2, and an R-rated adaptation titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin.

Other highlights included the announcement of a new Star Trek film, Glen Powell joining Edgar Wright's The Running Man remake, and a forthcoming instalment in the Scary Movie series. The event also showcased the final trailer for IF starring Ryan Reynolds.

Paramount also unveiled the first teaser of director Ridley Scott's upcoming sequel, Gladiator II, slated for release on November 22. According to Variety, the teaser introduces Paul Mescal in the role of Lucius, a fledgling slave destined for greatness as he ascends to become a renowned champion. Alongside Mescal, Denzel Washington plays the role of a formidable figure orchestrating the gladiators' matches. The teaser also featured Pedro Pascal as a warrior.


Disney showcased previews of several of their upcoming projects at CinemaCon — Planet of the Apes, Alien: Romulus, Captain America 4: Brave New World, and Deadpool & Wolverine. Additionally, over thirty minutes of footage from Inside Out 2 was showcased at the event, offering a glimpse into Riley's evolving emotions as a teenager. Barry Jenkins disclosed plans for his prequel Mufasa: The Lion King, promising new musical compositions, while teasers for Moana 2 were exclusively presented to the CinemaCon audience.
