The booze buddy: The friend who always thinks of drinking when it comes to hanging out. “Chal daaru peetey hain” is all they say when you ask where would you meet.
The foot-in-mouth buddy: The friend who just doesn’t know what to say where. They say the wrong things at the wrong time and no matter how hard you glare or poke or kick under the table, they simply refuse to take the hint.
The know-it-all: That friend who knows everything about everything. You could be discussing anything from Ligurian honey to Lalmohanbabu and they have known about it all along. No point arguing because they will not back down and would rather be offended if you try to say you know more than them, even about one thing. Much fun can be had when two know-it-alls meet!
The glutton: The friend who’s always pouncing on food whenever and wherever they see it. They are your saviour if you can’t finish what’s on your plate and your nemesis if you are really hungry.
The broke buddy: Whether it’s one buck or a hundred, this friend is perennially short of cash. And they have no qualms in asking others to pay their share. Every time.
The meme-maker: That one friend on Facebook who is always posting ugly memes below your status messages and pictures. They seem to have a ready meme for everything!
The lovestruck: The friend who’s always talking about their love life and significant other. You might be bored stiff and on the brink of yelling “shut up!” but all you do is smile and say “so sweet”.
The flirt: That friend who is less interested in the group’s conversation and more keen on spotting any pretty girl or cute guy nearby.
The chatterbox: The talkative friend who will never let you open your mouth because they always have so much to say. They make for good company if you don’t feel like driving a conversation but they’re a bad idea if you have a point to prove or a headache.
The BFF: The 3am friend who has the right to call you at any hour and share gossip or grief as if there is no tomorrow.
The glue: That friend without whom no get-together is complete. They are the one always cracking jokes or mimicking someone and keeping everyone entertained.
The late buddy: The friend for whom “just two minutes” could mean anything from 15 minutes to two hours.
And yet, we love them all.
