Rituparna Sengupta

This head-turner wears an unabashed individuality. So I wondered if it would be easy to coax her into shedding her style in favour of something new. Well, Rituparna turned out to be an absolute sweetheart! Respectful of others’ ideas and willing to adapt. Without even a murmur of protest, she took on the challenge of softening up for the t2 shoot.

An ivory ecru anarkali tunic teamed with palazzo linen pants and a cutesy floral dupatta in chiffon gave her that fresh, ethereal look. We did away with her big, bouncy hairstyle and straightened the tresses to enhance her softness. We highlighted her honey-hued eyes and let them do the talking, leaving the rest of the face clean.

Tips for her: Wear soft summer colours and clean silhouettes. Keep it minimal and beautiful.

On her: Cotton anarkali kurta, linen pants and chiffon dupatta from Anokhi; neckpiece from Bombaim.

Arpita

The porcelain-skinned Arpita held her own and created a Cinderella moment during the shoot. The glittery dress that she “looovvvved” later on was not something she took to instantly when we started off. Secretly, in my heart, I knew Arpita would look like a million bucks in that ‘it’ dress with a constellation of grey sequins. One look at her and I knew she was the real deal in Tollywood fashion.

When she batted her eyelashes and looked into the camera, many were stunned to see just how gorgeous she was. Her hairstylist did a fab job of fixing the hairpiece and giving me the Oriental look that I had in mind for her.

Tips for her: Dark-hued frocks with just a hint of shine will do the trick for you. And never forget — towering heels is your style mantra.

On her: Sequinned dress and hair accessory from Vizyon; ring from Amrapali.

Paoli Dam

Paoli is sexy and super- confident. So we decided to try something different with her — the cool individual look. The only woman who wore the pants, and how! A sailor T-shirt, metal jewellery and classic pumps completed the look.

Paoli has shown a lot of leg in recent times (watch out for the Kagojer Bou billboards where she sports denim shorts with a white shirt). So we gave her Keaton-like pants which she carried with great style. Her assets are long, silky hair and dark expressive eyes. The European chic look brought the best of expressions and body language on board.

Tips for her: European chic because she has the height and the frame of a model.

On her: Nautical T-shirt from Mango, pants from Promod, pumps from Charles & Keith, neckpiece from Suhani Pittie at 85 Lansdowne and cuffs from Amrapali.

Shrabanti

This Tolly heroine is one helluva bubbly girl whose dimpled smile just makes her more pretty. While doing the make-up, Shrabanti chatted, giggled and laughed with us, and also pouted and preened into the hand-held mirror. We persuaded her to let go of the contacts and she obliged. We wanted to tone down her eye make-up, she agreed.

An hour into the shoot, her carefree air was replaced by a subtle sophistication. It was not just about what she wore but how she wore it. The transformation was spontaneous and natural. The result? A perfect mix of oomph and attitude.

Tips for her: Let your natural beauty shine, because — ahem — you’re worth it!

On her: Jewelled tone dress from Vizyon and cuff from Amrapali.

Swastika Mukherjee

Swastika walked into Tolly Club a girl next door. In linen pants, a casual T-shirt and hair cutely pulled back with an Alice band, her mental make-up was perfectly in place.

The curvy, self-assured woman that she is, Swastika happily gave a nod to our sartorial choice — a textured lame dress with a velvet jacket. A straight shift is the key to flatter her figure.

Tips for her: Experiment with layering, prints and colour. Wear accessories that have a point of view.

On her: Textured lame dress by Namrata Joshipura at 85 Lansdowne, velvet jacket from Ritu Kumar and bracelet from Amrapali.

Parambrata Chattopadhyay

For two days on the trot, giggles and girl talk is all you heard at the shoot spot. So, Param was like a breath of fresh air at the end of Day Two. (No offence, ladies!)

Dressing the Tolly dude was rather easy. He knows what looks good on him. He is open to suggestions and is a good listener to boot. His best trait? He doesn’t take fashion too seriously. So, when the pants we chose for him turned out to be too wide to work, he was game for a mid-shot and gave it his best. A black textured blazer and a crisp white shirt made him look like a character from... well, should we say, a Bond movie?!

Tips for him: Pay attention to detail. Like great shoes, well-fitted shirts and the right play of mix-and-match.

On him: Blazer, shirt and pants by Dev R Nil.
