Cup tales

Saswata Chatterjee, Sourav Ganguly and Abir Chatterjee launched Cupmohola, the latest book from Anandabazar Patrika sports journalist Gautam Bhattacharya, at The Gateway Hotel recently. Cupmohola tells cricket stories spanning “30 years and seven World Cups”, exploring events off the field and reflecting on their repercussions on the field… dressing room stories about how the players have evolved and how certain events have shaped them. Cupmohola has been dedicated to Sourav Ganguly. You may wonder if it’s difficult to lead champions with egos involved, but Ganguly disagreed. “Champions want to be successful and therefore their egos take a back seat,” he said. Kunal Sarkar, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Deep Dasgupta, Srijit Mukherji and Sambaran Banerjee took part in panel discussions. Picture: Pabitra Das
