Chandra Chakraborty, founder of Kalakar Arts UK and one of the finest interpreters of Hindustani Sastriya Sangeet, together with Saskia Griffiths-Moore (a very popular English Folk singer) has created an extraordinary musical album Together in Love and Separation, a fusion of English Folk, Bengali Folk and North Indian Semi Classical music. The album has 8 tracks. English traditional folk numbers such as Country Road as well as popular Bengali Folk songs such as Bhromor Koiyo Giya, Tomai Hrid Majhare Rakhbo and Milon Hobe Koto diney has been creatively blended with Tumri and kheyal, a very interesting idea indeed. The album was launched at world famous Royal Albert Hall on 13th April 2022, by the managing director of London Chamber Orchestra Ms Jocelyne Lightfoot in front of a hall full of audience attending from as far as Northern Ireland.

Saskia mentioned "I first met with Chandra through her son Sami, who is a friend of mine. We started discussing our music and just decided to sing together to have some fun. While I was singing my usual English Folk numbers, Chandra joined me with her beautiful rendition of Indian Ragas, I was surprised to see how beautifully her music was blending with my music. So, we decided to perform one such piece at one of my concerts and people just loved the idea. Then, we approached Arts Council England for some funding to record an album of this outstanding music and we got it! iKure, a company that works with mental health and healing with music also came forward to support us. Chandra composed some semi classical numbers and after a few days rehearsals, we recorded the whole album at Chandra's place in South West London. We couldn't believe, in just one take, each songs sounded just perfect. I have also leant a few Bengali lines and sang Bhromor Koiyo Giya in Bengali. It has been an amazing journey.

Chandra says "I love experimenting. In the past, I have performed with Flamenco, Western bands such as Yatra Quartet and performed Rag Chhayyanat with Sebastian Bach's Goldberg variations at House Of Commons. I have also experimented with Gamelan music at the South Bank Centre. Soon, I will probably join the prestigious Opera North for one of their very large scale production tours. Since my childhood, I have been listening to Bengali Folk songs and wanted to explore that side too. So, when Saskia came to me and we started chatting about different styles of music, I thought of experimenting the English Folk with Thumri. It sounded magical. I believe any music that can be performed with true love and emotion is bound to touch the heart of people. As soon as we released Bhromor Koiyo Giya, I have been receiving lots of calls, messages and emails that no one has ever heard this composition with Thumri and Western tune before. I hope that the album available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4n-bLFnWD0 reaches to music loving audience worldwide.

Kalakar Arts has been conducting live musical programs in the UK for a long time under the direction of Chandra Chakraborty, arranged songs, dances, outstanding performances and English narration; these musical performances have won the hearts of music lovers in London and nearest cities. Chandra, the founder of Kalakar arts UK said that, “initially there was a short musical program on Begum Akhtar’s biography. During the program the audience got to know many unknown stories of Begum’s life and the audience congratulated us after listening to timeless songs. Since then requests keep coming to us for more new events of this kind.”
