What: Denzong Kitchen
Where: 128, Hazra Road (near the Asutosh College back gate)
Pocket pinch: Rs 100 for snacks, Rs 250 for a meal
t2 Campus Team picks: Chicken Shapta and Dragon Chicken
Students of Asutosh College are ecstatic about the new Denzong Kitchen outlet behind their campus. This is the first air-conditioned Denzong Kitchen in the city. While the juicy Chicken Steamed Momo is everybody’s fave, there’s a lot more on the menu to savour.
The owners recommend Chicken Falle, Chicken Thukpa Noodles, Chicken Pan-Fried Momo and Chicken Fried Momo.
Chicken Shapta and Dragon Chicken fall under Denzong’s specials. At Rs 100 a plate, Chicken Shapta is a simple Tibetan gravy-based dish flavoured with chilli and ginger. Yet it is not overly spicy and is prepared with very minimal ingredients, like tomatoes, capsicum and spring onion.
On the other hand, Dragon Chicken, also priced at Rs 100 a plate, is a spicy Indian-Chinese preparation. We totes dig the vibrant red colour of this dish! It’s a dry side that can be teamed with fried rice or noodles.

What: Grab ’n’ Go
Where: 3B Short Street, opposite St. Xavier’s College back gate
Pocket pinch: Rs 40 for a light meal; Rs 100 for a tummy-fill
t2 Campus Team picks: Corn Cheese Sandwich and Cheesy Creamy Pasta
Xaverians can now add Pizza Toast, Chicken Burger and Cheese Maggi to their list of lunch options, thanks to
Grab ’n’ Go. The shop, which housed a Goli outlet earlier, has expanded its menu to include omelettes, sandwiches, pasta and burger. And if you still miss vada pav, there’s that too!
The Cheesy Creamy Pasta lives up to its name as a heady mixture of cheese, cream, broccoli and carrots garnished with oregano. At Rs 60 a plate, it is a very satisfying meal. The Crispy Chicken Burger has a crunchy, delicious patty topped with mayonnaise, tomatoes and onions. And as recommended by the store manager, the Corn Cheese Sandwich was the best thing on the menu! While Rs 60 might seem a bit steep for a ‘campus’ sandwich, it was filling as a snack and really yummy.
