Calcuttans played it cool at Basanta Utsav, with Sprite and t2

Basantada the cool Calcuttan was the icon to be emulated, followed and idolised at City Centre New Town on February 28 and March 1 — the two days of Basanta Utsav which brought down curtains on the 15-day campaign Sprite presents Basantada…Clear Hai, in association with t2.

“Just imagine this to be a rockey boshe adda. We sing all kinds of songs and if you want to hear any song, do request us,” said members of Sohure-Baul, the band that belted out numbers like Lal matir sarane, Ranjana ami ar ashbona, Lal paharir deshe ja, Saadher lau. They also sang the Sufi number Teri deewani.

Who’s Basantada? The wittiest and coolest guy around, who can tackle any tricky situation with his presence of mind. The campaign was a hunt to find the smartest and coolest lot of Calcuttans who match the spirit of Sprite.

From answering tricky questions to performing on stage and playing games, the crowd at City Centre New Town had a gala time. Food stalls with bhelpuri, kebab and phuchka, a tattoo stall by Maya Ink and a photo corner added to the cool quotient.
