Brahmastra has so far done a business of Rs 170 crore in India and grossed Rs 255 crore worldwide.

However, Kangana Ranaut has recently sparked off a controversy over the box office collections of Brahmastra, claiming that its box office collection numbers are fake and pointing fingers at Dharma Productions and Karan Johar.

Why different sources are quoting different box figures for Brahmastra

Box office collections of films are calculated in different ways, leading to the confusion. For instance, Dharma Productions has been citing the gross collections for Brahmastra, while some trade analysts have been quoting the net figures. The net collection is simply the gross minus the government taxes, which vary from state to state. Then there is the distributors’ share, which also needs to be subtracted from the gross collections.

Controversies apart, Brahmastra is reportedly doing well in the Hindi and Telugu belts. It is expected to cross Rs 200 crore collections in the first week if the current booking trends continue.
