What’s unique about embroidery:
It’s what our grandmothers were great at — needlework! Think stitches like French knot, chain, straight, back, running and more, in various patterns and shades.
This was one of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s prettiest looks at Cannes 2017. The highlight of the gown by Georges Hobeika was the intricate embroidery in blue, red, black and gold threads on beige, and on the tulle neckline. With red lips and flowing hair, this was vintage Ash.
Those big butterflies may look like patches but it’s actually embroidery on Kriti Sanon’s denim trousers. With a knotted grey tank top and white sneakers, she clearly wanted to showcase the hot new trend.
Another GenY star kid, Sara Ali Khan, turned heads in a metallic choli and an embroidered skirt in bright pink by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. One would have thought twice before going for that combo, but look how gorgeous Saif Ali Khan’s daughter looks!
If you don’t like too much thread work, then opt for layering and add a hint of embroidery in it like Ileana D’Cruz’s distressed jacket.
Bolly’s GenY face Jhanvi Kapoor’s sheer skater dress is a modern take on embroidery. The Temperley London outfit looks busy with the medley of patterns, but Sridevi’s elder daughter pulls it off with just big hoops and nude make-up.
Shraddha Kapoor showed how to do your fave colour black differently in a miniskirt with detailed needlework. A basic black top and lace-up thigh-high boots were just the right picks. Cute meets grunge.
Alia Bhatt’s got cute peacocks on her off-shoulder top-and-skirt combo. Just the kind of fresh, simple look we dig for a day out, along with those silver earrings and a neat ponytail.
Embroidery on kurta is an old Indian tradition; Bolly heart-throb Varun Dhawan took it a step further by wearing it on a black jacket, paired with a red shirt. #DesiDudeRocks
