Anuranan-maker Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s second film already has many firsts to its credit. Antaheen will have Aparna Sen and her writer husband Kalyan Ray playing a screen couple for the first time. After being directed by Sen in three films, Rahul Bose gets the chance to share screen space with her. Also, Parineeta melody-maker Shantanu Moitra makes his Tollywood debut by composing the music for Antaheen.

Aniruddha has woven a love-and-relationship story yet again, after his successful debut film Anuranan last year. If Anuranan revolved around two couples, Antaheen has three.

“But Antaheen is poles apart from Anuranan. Antaheen will be different in terms of treatment. It’s an urban love story set in Calcutta and all the characters are interlinked. Aparna plays a successful career woman, while Rahul is a cop,” says Aniruddha, unwilling to divulge more.

“I will launch a newcomer opposite Rahul. I am in the process of finalising the rest of the cast.... Aparna is a fabulous actress and she is acting in a film after a long time.”

Antaheen will be extensively shot in the city. “Calcutta is very much a character in Antaheen. We will shoot at various locations across town,” says the film-maker, who made the switch from ad films to feature films with Anuranan.

The cast apart, Shantanu Moitra’s music will be a standout feature in Antaheen with six tracks sung by Shaan, Shreya Ghoshal, Antara Chowdhury and Chandrabindoo frontman Anindya.

“I met Shantanu after Anuranan and it took us a year to decide on the music. It will have the feel of the Sixties and Seventies, but with a modern approach,” says Aniruddha.

Produced by Screenplay Films, Antaheen will roll on the floors in mid-June. The script is by Shyamal Sengupta, while Abhik Mukhopadhyay will steer the camera. Aniruddha is targeting a December release for Antaheen.
