What: Workshop on Iyengar Yoga in association with The Telegraph

Where: Senses Hotel, DN 26, Sector V, Salt Lake

When: January 31 to February 3

Timings: 6am to 7.30am, 8am to 9.30am or 5pm to 6.30pm (pick any one time slot)

Expect: An introduction to Iyengar Yoga in four 90-minute sessions by the Iyengar Yoga institutions, which include Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI), Pune, and Light on Yoga Research Trust (LOYRT), Mumbai, among others. The workshop is being held across the country in the birth centenary year of the renowned yoga guru, B.K.S. Iyengar, who was instrumental in popularising the discipline across the world. Conducting the workshop will be two of his students: Rajvi Mehta, a Mumbai-based reproductive biologist who has been teaching yoga since 1986 and has researched various aspects of the discipline, and Abhay Javakhedkar, who is a second-generation yoga practitioner and a teacher at RIMYI.

Organiser speak: “In this workshop, we would like to give a flavour of our guruji’s teachings to the people of Calcutta and plant the seed of Iyengar Yoga here,” said Rajvi Mehta.

Organiser speak: “As this is the first time we are doing the exhibition this year, we have brought in designers who have a collection of the upcoming trends to give to the shoppers,” said Anupam Mukherjee, director, The Haat.
