SPECIAL AWARDS
Sharad Dewan, regional director, food production, The Park Hotels, received the Signature Chef of the Year award from Kaushik Kanjilal, senior general manager, customer marketing, Diageo — RPC East, and Ushoshi Sengupta. “Chefs are compassionate people. They look out for the expression on a person’s face to see if they are enjoying their meal or not. For me to work consistently for 10 years in this industry is my achievement and recognition,” said chef Dewan.
Saikat Pramanik of Hyatt Regency Kolkata was too “excited” to receive the Signature Most Promising Chef of the Year award. “This is my first award and I have worked really hard for it. My seniors have been supportive of me as well,” said Saikat.
Sourav Kumar Singh of Ping’s Cafe Orient bagged the Signature Most Promising Mixologist of the Year award. “I have been working with Ping’s for five months and winning was beyond my expectations,” said the bar manager.
JURY MEMBERS AND GUESTS MADE THE MOST OF THE FUN FOOD NIGHT
Jury member Parno Mittra and footwear designer Rohan Arora snatch a selfie moment. “The Telegraph Food Guide is like Bible for food lovers like me in the city. Felicitating the best in the food business has always been a great initiative and I feel that no one does it better than The Telegraph. Also, the food served at the awards was absolutely divine, from the Lamb Khichri to the kulfi,” said Rohan.
Their dialogue card summed up designer duo Dev (right) and Nil’s motto for the night! Nil, who was a jury member, said: “Calcutta being a foodie’s paradise, it was with great responsibility that we chose each of the winners. We couldn’t go wrong with the absolute favourites but at the same time we tried to encourage the new entrants. Overall, quite a thrilling experience to be part of the jury.”

Pinky and Shaun Kenworthy gave us #CoupleStyleGoals as always. “It’s always great to be part of The Telegraph Food Guide right from the beginning. There have been so many new arrivals to the city over the last 18 months and I think we ended up with a great mix this year of heritage, Calcutta favourites and the justified appearance of a smattering of new,” said Shaun, a member of the Food Guide Awards jury.

MasterChef India Season 5 winner Kirti Bhoutika was the only vegetarian member on the Food Guide jury. “As much as I enjoyed the experience of selecting the best food outlets in my city, it was an unbelievably difficult task. Calcutta is brimming with culinary talent and diversity and I’m very proud of being associated with this event,” said the lady in red.
There couldn’t be a more apt dialogue card for Paris Cafe owner Sneha Singhi!
