Years ago, my mother passed on her secret to glowing skin, which I follow religiously — it’s a pack of besan, rose water and haldi. In fact I always carry a rose water spritzer with me. I use cold cucumber juice to soothe my skin, and tomato pulp as a natural bleach. Another remedy to soften the skin is milk powder mixed with rose water. I have oily, pimple-prone skin, so I use a multani mitti and rose water pack. I use coconut oil on my hair. |
I am a 15-year-old girl. I have thick but rough hair up to my shoulders. My scalp is not too oily neither is it too dry. Could you please suggest a Sunday haircare routine which can help soften my hair?

Oil your hair with a combination of olive oil and almond oil followed by this hair mask — take 5 tbs olive oil, 2 eggs, 1 tsp each of amla, reetha and shikakai powder.Mix these in 2 tsp mayonnaise and whip all the ingredients together. Apply to the scalp and hair and cover with a shower cap for half an hour before shampooing and conditioning the hair. Do this once every week.
I am 30-year-old man. I recently got back from a beach holiday with a serious tan. Could you please tell me how I can get rid of it at home? Will I be able to get back my original complexion?

The tan wont last forever, but I am surprised you didn’t use a sun block. Not to worry though, mix 3 tsp almond paste with 2 tsp full cream milk and 1 tsp sandalwood powder and apply on the skin. If your skin feels dry, mix in 1 tsp of honey as well. Leave this mask on your skin for 10 minutes and wash off with milk. Do it for two to three consecutive days and you will see a marked improvement.
