A homemade mix of besan (gram flour), malai (cream) and a pinch of turmeric works wonders for my skin. I apply it once a week and scrub it off with cream after a while. This not only exfoliates but also reduces blemishes. During winters I apply glycerine mixed with a few drops of lemon juice on my face before washing it. I also wash my hair with a mix of shikakai, reetha and amla powder and fenugreek seeds on a weekly basis. This softens the hair, gives it a shine and controls hair fall. |
I am 23. Could you please tell me what natural ingredients have cleansing and toning properties? I have combination skin. And I want to use a natural cleanser and toner.

If you have combination skin, natural cleansing grains made from orange peel powder and Fuller’s Earth mixed together would work wonders on your skin on the T-zone. Scrub gently to dislodge any whiteheads and blackheads. For a natural toner, cold rose water wiped on the skin twice a day would be excellent.
I am 33. Please tell me if there’s a way to get rid of facial spots and marks left behind by pimples using natural ingredients? Could you please tell me in detail what kind of mask or scrub I can use for this? I have an oily nose — and whiteheads. The rest of my facial skin is normal.

I do hope you have not been squeezing or picking at the spots. Treat your skin with exfoliating grains of 2 tsp dried green pea powder, 2 tsp Fuller’s Earth, 1 tsp rice powder. Mix with rose water and apply to the skin. When it is semi-dry, scrub off. This is to be done daily for a month. As a face pack, mix sandalwood and Fuller’s Earth and apply as a mask all over the face and neck.
