The sheer indiscipline on Calcutta’s roads makes me furious! Be it pedestrians or drivers, we have absolutely no respect for one another and none for rules too. The pedestrian overhead paths are hardly used, green signals have no meaning, and the Calcutta pedestrian thinks that a wave of the hand is all that’s needed for right of way.

The drivers are another horror story. You’d find horns honking hard in hospital zones, the left lane being occupied by speed-hogs who will keep going straight and the moment the signal goes green, there’s a cacophony of horns from every single car. We don’t realise how discourteous this is! And amidst all this, you’d find a placid traffic constable oblivious to everything. We need the traffic department to do something concrete and do it soon. All I can say is, I am ready to do whatever anyone asks of me if my two bits count.
