That’s what made up Love Under the Stars in association with t2 at Splash, Swissotel Kolkata Neotia Vista. Newly-weds Rahul and Sonam Balasaria walked in to celebrate their first Valentine’s Day together and loved the pretty heart installation by the pool. “Apart from the decor and the wine, we really loved the stunning view of the skyline from the poolside,” said Rahul.
In the city to attend a wedding, husband-wife duo Sumita and Alak Das were one of the first to get on the dance floor. “We totally loved the ambience and the cabanas. Also, the DJ was pretty good,” said the couple from New Jersey.

From brownies to chocolate-coated strawberries and jujubes in different colours, the dessert bar (left) was a hit with the guests, many of whom came back for multiple helpings. The bar churned out many a killer concoction and t2’s pick of the night was Green Horn (right). Snacks such as Mutton Seekh Kebab, Tandoori Sabzi and Hot Pepper Chicken were the pop picks.
This lovely couple danced their hearts out. “My most favourite moment on the dance floor was when the DJ played Soch na sake from Airlift. I loved the whole Valentine’s Day mood here, without too much of a crowd, and both of us spent some quality time together,” said entrepreneur Saahil Jaiswal, with girlfriend Meghna Choudhary.

US-based Willam Belli — the famed drag queen contestant in RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 4 — was the star of the night at Kitty Su’s Pop Up party. The tempo of the party was high as DJ Distort played tracks like Despacito, Bad Man and Gucci Gang.
Indian drag queen Maya dressed up as a character from Padmaavat and performed to the Ghoomar song from the film.

The opening performance of the night was by Indian drag queen Betta-Naan-Stop who performed to Lady Gaga’s Judas.
The night ended on a high note with a hectic set by Ma Faiza (left) who played an hour at the Anti-Valentine party. “The Valentine’s Day concept is very alienating for a lot of people and it almost makes these uncomfortable divisions between couples and singles. We are inclusive enough to have a party beyond this Valentine concept, as we we believe in loving all,” said fashion designer and host for the night, Nil.

Deepanwita Goswami burned the floor with her flexible moves.
Lucas from Mumbai was the “shot boy” of the night who grabbed all the eyeballs.
“Willam was amazing with her performance. Ma Faiza surely kept the tempo high all through the night! It was nice to see a very democratic crowd that just wants to enjoy life and music,” said fashion designer Dev, with friend and fellow designer Ayushman ‘Bobo’ Mitra.
