New in town

Seven reasons why we love the newest chill zone — Level Seven

Before the year ends, Topsia has got another hangout zone to boast of — Level Seven, spread over two levels

If you love partying, park yourself in the pub section where resident DJ Shabbir will churn out commercial and Bolly hits.

If open-air is your thing, head for the rooftop — a venue for acoustic nights.

“We wanted to come up with a place that has something more to offer, other than just partying. Level Seven is a blend of party and chill zone,” said Dhiraj Jindal, who co-owns the place with Sidharth Banthia.

What: Level Seven

Where: Wizard House, 9/1/1 Topsia Road (diagonally opposite the Porche showroom)

Timings: Noon to midnight Monday-Wednesday; till 2am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Meal for two: Rs 1,200-plus.

The levels: High Level, a 2,500sq ft rooftop space, overlooks the Calcutta skyline. With easy, roomy seating, it’s a nice spot to puff on shisha while watching cars zoom across Paroma flyover. The rooftop equipped with mist-control facility has a penthouse that can accommodate around 20 — ideal for a close-knit private party.

The lounge on the seventh floor wears a different vibe — the wooden furniture and decor make it look and feel warm. This 2,500sq ft space with mismatched seating can hold around 80 people.

Tipple delight:

The 24ft-long bar stirs up yum cocktails like Italian Fizz and Gondhoraj Lemoncello. We loved the inclusion of Banta, or Goli Soda drinks as they are known in Delhi, where drinks are carbonated with the help of a machine and are served in a codd-neck bottle. The pub is serving on a temporary licence; Mondays and Thursdays are dry days.

Yum bites:

Executive chef Biswaroop Mukherjee with work experience at Farzi Cafe, Delhi, has curated a menu that focuses on fusion fare to hearty meals. “We have kept the menu varied. There’s healthy food like Granny’s Myth Salad, while nibbles like Napoleon Style Bread Pakora are pop picks. But our signature dishes would be Bird’s Eye Burger, Paper Thin Pizzas and Lamb Biryani made with not one potato but many baby potatoes!” he said.

Smoking zone:

A section of the staircase has been turned into a smoking space and done up neatly. Besides wall art, you will spot various shelves that will be used as a display space for fashion products.

Quirk factor:

The hangout den is decorated with many quirky decor items. A Game of Thrones-inspired chair, an Eiffel Tower-inspired stool and wall-hangings made of scrap iron.

Fancy shisha:

How many times have you thought twice before sharing your shisha pipe with someone? We spotted this two-pipe shisha which can be enjoyed by two people. But for better smoke, wait for your turn! The chill spot also has some fruity flavours made in-house, starting at Rs 500.
