Saturdays start late for me and there’s a good reason for this. That’s because I pack in as much shut-eye as I can, for I can’t really afford to nod off at the turntable at night. Hence, I rise and shine at eleven ’clock in the morning. A quick breakfast follows, after which I head to my clothing store in Metro Plaza. The day goes by in a busy blur of sales and signing receipts. But I do wrap up a bit early to ready myself for the long night ahead.

This is the time when I go through my CDs to keep in mind certain sets of music that I’d like to play. I also scan the new releases that week and do some quick experimentation. After I finish prepping, I head to the gym for an hour of solid exercise. I believe nothing keeps you more alert than a good work-out. Dinner is a light affair, after which, I visit the temple like a ‘good boy’. Then, it’s off to Venom, the nightclub where I play spin-doctor.

Even though I play ? from 11.30pm to three in the morning ? I make it a point to move away from the console from time to time and mingle with the crowd. It’s a great way of connecting with your audience.

The music continues well into the wee hours of the morning. But at 5am, we shut shop and head off to either The Atrium or The Dhaba at Ballygunge for a good breakfast ? yes, chicken bharta and hot rolls are great after a hard night’s work!

Of course, it’s a given that I sleep almost the entire morning on Sunday. I only wake up at about two in the afternoon and after that, it’s my family that gets top priority. Sunday evenings are all about spending time with my parents, wife and son, Ansh.
