JDBI cranks up the fun & energy meter at Invictus '18, with t2

Students of J.D. Birla Institute (department of management) took a break from their studies as they organised Invictus ’18, their annual fest, partnered by t2 from February 9 to 11. The three-day fest featured a variety of events, from cultural to entrepreneurial. More than 25 colleges, including St. Xavier’s College, Shri Shikshayatan College, Loreto College, The Bhawanipur Education Society College and Christ University, Bangalore, participated. Stand-up comedian Abhishek Upmanyu and singer-composer Amaal Mallik were the guest performers on the second and third days, respectively. J.D. Birla Institute won the overall winners trophy.

“I love Calcutta and it is very pretty here,” said Amaal Mallik as he took the stage on the last day of Invictus ’18. The Bollywood singer-composer sang a host of his famous numbers like Besabriyan, Kar gayi chull and Main hoon hero tera, often pausing to give his eager audience insights to the songs’ backstories.

Shri Shikshayatan College performed to Dhating naach, Bum bum bole and Just go to hell dil in the Bollywood dance competition. Their use of masks as props was much appreciated by the judges.

We spotted impersonations of NaMo, Lalu Prasad Yadav and Mogambo 

The team from Calcutta University grooved to the beats of Ole ole, Mujhse shaadi karogi, Suraj hua maddham, Channa mereya and more. “We practised for nearly a week and a half. We did not even have a dance team before this!” said Soham Chatterjee (far right).

Stand up comic Abhishek Upmanyu left the audience in splits with his punchlines on Day 2 of Invictus ’18.

Jadavpur University won hearts with their performance at Unplugged, the band competition.

The Bhawanipur Education Society College walked the ramp at the fashion show competition. Innovation was everywhere — from the gorgeous floral headgear to the colourful props.

J.D. Birla Institute, department of management (in picture) were the overall winners of the fest. However, the host college decided to pass on the winners’ trophy to the first runner-up, St. Xavier’s College.

The students of Christ University, Bangalore, won the Best Management Contingent award at Invictus ’18.
