We may be at the beginning of a month in the Gregorian calendar, but are already halfway through the month of Shravan, the ‘monsoon month’. Rashmoni, who cooks for us at home, has often told me “dada, what Sundays are for you (church) Mondays are for me in Shravan.” These are special days in Shiva temples. The belief is that offering puja to Lord Shiva and fasting on Mondays in Shravan earns a lot of punya, making wishes come true. Me today, Rashmoni tomorrow. God be with us.
