Go glamorous in minutes

Change your everyday look, every day, into a glam one with a few easy strokes. Makeover is not putting on tonnes of make-up and looking like a mask, but about what suits you

Makeover Madness. It’s about what suits you! So goes her Facebook page. Sreenanda Shankar (picture top left), from Calcutta, specialises in making faces over. Under her hands, the faces turn stunning, but, she insists, the person remains intact.

She uses little make-up and takes little time to do a face up, with great success. She often gives advice on subjects that do not relate to, strictly speaking, beauty. She may say: “Love yourself. It’s important. It will make you nicer with people! Stop criticising the world and work on yourself!” And her Facebook group of more than 21k followers lap it up.

“After learning makeup from London I started Makeover Madness when I lived in the US with my husband. I would share simple make-up tips in the Makeover Madness group about daily make-up,” says Sreenanda.

Always start your makeup with the eyes. Use a light brown eye shadow on the upper eyelid and a mild gold shade on top , maintaining the brown on the crease line.
Take a dark brown eye shadow and line your lower outer lash line with a smudge brush. Use a champagne shade on the brow bone and always complete your eye makeup with mascara.
Use a light foundation, whether it's liquid or powder, after using concealer in the required parts of the face.
Use a mild peach blush after some mild contouring of the face or contour with the blush itself.
Always line and fill out your lips with a nude lipliner.  Then use the lipstick
shade of your choice with a lipliner that corresponds with the shade.

She regularly uploads tutorials on make-up online for the group and also works as a make-up consultant offline. She is proud of the “smokey eyes” look, her signature.

Sreenanda, the daughter of Ananda Shankar and Tanushree Shankar, and a dancer herself, here works on the face of a model who “has a versatile face that looks good with all kinds of make-up”. “Keeping summer in mind I created a bright summer look,” Sreenanda says.

She has some special tips for the readers.

• Accept your skin tone and buy a foundation that matches the shade of your neck or arms, instead of trying to make yourself look fairer.

• Always use a nude lipliner to line and fill out your lips before applying lipstick. The lipliner makes the lipstick last longer and even the shade of the lips before lipstick application.

• Using eye shadows and smudge brushes to line your eyes is easier than using eyeliner, which needs a steady hand.

• Know the difference between daily make-up and make-up for the ramp or stage. There's a big difference.
