We loved how the menu card was designed like a vinyl record.

What: Urban Kitchen + Bar, The Holiday Inn
Where: Biswa Bangla Sarani, near City Centre New Town
Open: 4.30pm to 11.30pm
Happy hours menu: 4.30pm to 8pm
Meal for two: Rs 1,800 (food & drinks)

Next time you are in New Town and wondering where to have your tipple party, drop by Urban  Kitchen + Bar, the newest chill spot at The Holiday Inn on Biswa Bangla Sarani. Spread over 1,500sq ft, the snug place is divided into three zones  — dining, private dining and bar with a mini dance floor. The

32-seater dining space is furnished with comfy sofas and minimalist decor, while the 18-seater private-dining section is ideal if you are looking at birthday parties or office team lunches.

Food is one of the highlights here and the menu is a mix of traditional (like biryani and Ran-e-Sikandari) and modern (like international tasting platters and Steamed Edamame Beans). “Keeping in sync with the name of the place, we wanted to have a contemporary menu with a local touch. The food menu is simple and value for money,” said executive chef Suman Chakraborty.

Kolkata Affair: Aromatic and romantic, this cocktail is a concoction of white rum, lime juice, gulkand, honey and dried rose petals. Regular cocktails like mojito, LIIT and martini will also be stirred up by mixologist Julian Gomes.
The Aqua Platter: If you crave everything underwater, then this dish will please your palate. Scottish Smoked Salmon, scallops, batter-fried prawns, Tuna Tataki with blini and whipped lime cream... this healthy dish is good to share with a friend!
Cream Caramel with Chilli Ice cream:
If you love fancy dessert, try this custard pudding with caramel drizzled on top, served with house-made chilli ice cream and fresh fruits like kiwi and peach. The chilli is beautifully balanced by the mild sweetness of the custard.
Urban Platter: This Continental combo is everything you would dream of. The non-vegetarian platter has a portion of pan-grilled chicken liver pate, bangers and mash and mini chicken croque-monsieur sliders served with grilled veggies. It’s non-messy and yummy.
Brazilian Meat Churrasco: Churrasco — a South American dish of steak barbecued over a wood or charcoal fire — has found its way into the menu. This one includes huge chunks of well-done meats like lamb chops, chicken steak and bratwurst sausages. The juicy and smokey meat is served with traditional accompaniments.
