New Delhi, Oct 13 :    New Delhi, Oct 13:  Tata-Lucent is likely to bag the Rs 90-crore tender floated by Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) to purchase equipment for its cellular telephone network. Tata-Lucent?s quotation is the lowest among the six companies that bid for the tender. Apart from Tata-Lucent, the others were Motorola, LG, ITI, Fujitsu-ICIM and NEC. However, there are other details to be considered before the contract is finally awarded. ?We will take a month to complete the formalities for awarding the tender. I have not yet received any information from the tender committee about the bids,?? S. Rajagopalan, chairman and managing director of MTNL, said. MTNL will be able to offer 3,000 extra connections once this tender is awarded. The winning bid is expected to get the entire contract under new norms. The order value is Rs. 1.5 lakh per line to be supplied over a three-year period. The company which bags the contract will have to provide about 50,000 lines annually for three years. This tender was floated to cover the Delhi circle and another tender is likely to be floated for Mumbai. An earlier tender for Mumbai was put on hold following a Mumbai High Court ruling on a petition filed by LG Electronics. Meanwhile, MTNL will soon provide a detailed response to the consultation paper released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on Tuesday.
