Mumbai, Oct. 11: Engineering and construction major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has acquired Tamco Switchgear Malaysia Sdn Bhd for an undisclosed sum.

L&T today entered into a share-sale agreement with Tamco Corporate Holdings to take over the latter’s demerged switchgear business.

The two companies have decided to enter into three more share-sale agreements to acquire Tamco’s other switchgear manufacturing subsidiaries — Tamco Shanghai Switchgear Co Ltd in China, Tamco Electrical Industries Australia Pty Ltd and PT Tamco Indonesia.

Tamco manufactures medium-voltage switchgear products such as vacuum circuit breakers, ring main units, gas insulated switchgears, busducts and switchboards.

The company also makes low-voltage switchgears and switchboards. It has manufacturing units in Malaysia, China, Indonesia and Australia. Sales from West Asia and Malaysia make up over 50 per cent of Tamco’s revenue.
