It’s been three months since Japan experienced the devastating earthquake and tsunami that crippled the nation. But with the country slowly getting back to normal, the Japan Tourism Agency is now encouraging tourists to return. With this in mind, Leading Hotels of the World is offering breakfast-and-accommodation-inclusive packages at its member hotels in Tokyo, Osaka and Hokkaido. Starting at approximately Rs 14,000 and going up to about Rs 35,000 per night on double occupancy basis, you can choose to stay at the Imperial Hotel Tokyo, Hotel Okura Tokyo, Hotel Seiyo Ginza, Imperial Hotel Osaka and at The Windsor Hotel Toya Resort & Spa in Hokkaido — each with a charm of it’s own. While Imperial Hotel Tokyo opened in 1890, Hotel Okura was designed by artist-architect Yoshiro Taniguchi and Hotel Seiyo Ginza serves Tokyo’s best sushi at its Michelin-star restaurant, Mao. Away from city life, Imperial Hotel Osaka boasts of six world class restaurants and if you’d like to relax in the midst of nature, head to The Windsor Hotel Toya Resort & Spa. Airfare, other meals and transfers excluded. Return airfare (Calcutta-Tokyo-Calcutta) starts from Rs 38,000. Go to www.lhw.com.

Holiday hotspot
Shayan Munshi, Actor
One of my favourite holiday destinations in India is the Andaman Islands, because it gives me the option of deep sea diving. It’s a sport I absolutely love! I also love going to San Francisco — it’s a beautiful city, with an amazing landscape and great weather. There are some wonderful parks, organic food places and the people are really chilled out. The very vibe of the city gets you going!
