Calcutta: Berger Paints has earmarked an investment of Rs 200 crore to set up an integrated plant in Uttar Pradesh.
In a filing with the BSE on Monday, the company said its board has approved the installation of the plant, which will manufacture water and solvent-based decorative paints, industrial and protective coatings, resin, putty, emulsion and construction chemicals.
The new plant will come up at the Sandila industrial area in Uttar Pradesh by the end of 2019-20, subject to consents and approvals.
The location of the plant is crucial for the city-based company to cater to the demands of the central and northern parts of the country.
Berger's units are located in Jammu, Surajpur and Sikandrabad in north; Vallabh Vidyanagar, Jejuri and Goa in west; Hindupur and Pondicherry in south; Howrah and Rishra in east; and Naltali and Nalbari in the Northeast .
Berger is among the top four paint companies of India which together command around 54 per cent of the Rs 50,000-crore industry.
