Rishte mein toh hum tumhare baap lagte hain, naam hain Shahenshah! The famous dialogue was delivered with a Bachchan-like demeanour by Madhubani resident Vikram Kumar Singh at chief minister Nitish Kumar’s janata darbar on Monday.
The 18-year-old is not a nocturnal vigilante like Vijay (played by Amitabh Bachchan) in the 1988 blockbuster. Rather, he is an aspiring actor who idolises Big B. Vikram turned up at the janata darbar to request Nitish to take him to Mumbai on April 15 and introduce him to directors and producers.
“Sir, take me along with you. Introduce me to some directors in Mumbai. I want to become an actor and I have all the skills,” requested the Class XII (science) student of a private school in Ghoghardiha block, Madhubani.
Nitish directed him to approach the education department principal secretary, Anjani Kumar Singh, who also holds the additional charge of the art, culture and youth affairs department.
In front of Singh’s table, Vikram presented his case again: “Sir, I want to be an actor like Amitabh Bachchan. I am waiting for a good break. Give me an opportunity, I can prove my talent in acting. The day is not far when awards like Dadasaheb Phalke and Oscars would be in my kitty. I just need a break sir. I am good in acting and can dance as well.”
Without a pause the aspiring actor continued: “I have all the talent to become a big star. I just need your support. Everyone laughs at me and says that I don’t have any talent. But I don’t listen to them. I want to show you my talent.”
Singh said: “All this is fine, but what do you want from us?”
Vikram said: “Sir, I want you to introduce me to some director or producer who can give me a break. I just need a proper platform to showcase my talent. If you want to see my histrionic skills, I am ready to perform here.”
Education minister P.K. Shahi interrupted the monologue and said: “But most of the film directors are in Mumbai. If you want to work in Hindi films you have to go there.”
Vikram replied: “Sir, that’s why I requested the chief minister to take me to Mumbai along with him.”
Finally, Singh said: “Okay, I know Prakash Jha. I will ask him to give you a chance in his movie.”
Before the aspiring actor could exit, Shahi asked him to perform. The nod from the minister was enough for the aspiring actor to show his talent. He performed the character of a drunkard who was heartbroken because of a break-up. The ministers and officials appreciated his act.
