Araria (Forbesganj), Dec. 2: A 25-year-old man was found dead at his in-laws’ house today morning.

The youth, identified as Mohammad Daud, was a resident of Bhagkohalia village under Forbesganj police station. The deceased’s family members and relatives registered a case with Jogbani police station, alleging that Daud was beaten up and then poisoned to death by his in-laws.

They said the in-laws killed Daud as he was forcing them to let his wife go with him. Daud’s wife, according to the family, was unwilling to go with her husband.

The chowkidar of Amouna, accompanied by Daud’s relatives, was taking the body for post-mortem to Araria sadar hospital in an autorickshaw when goons owing allegiance to the village’s headman, Munna Khan, stopped them mid-way.

The goons wanted to take possession of the body on the pretext of performing the final rites. This triggered a clash between Daud’s relatives and the goons.

Nayeem Khan, Daud’s father-in-law, is said to be close to the village headman.

Araria superintendent of police Shivdeep Lande confirmed the incident.

Lande said: “Once the post-mortem report confirms poisoning by death, the police will track down the guilty.”
