Woman in net
• Bhagalpur: The police arrested Pratima Devi, a middle-aged woman, from Banka district on Thursday.
Pratima was declared dead about 21 years ago by her relatives and an FIR was lodged against her husband Suresh Yadav at the Sanhaila police station in Bhagalpur district on May 22, 1996. Pratima's husband was arrested and forwarded to jail on the charge of murdering his wife and tampering with evidence. The station house officer of Panjwara police station in Banka district, Vimal Kumar, said the woman was handed over to a Bhagalpur police team for further interrogation.
Two killed
• Patna: Heeralal Sahni killed his nephew Nandlal, and another relative, Vishnudeo Sahni, at Laxmipur village in Muzaffarpur on Wednesday night. Family feud was said to be the reason behind the incident. Relatives of the deceased then attacked Heeralal, who was later admitted to hospital.
Man shot
• Chhapra: A paan shop owner identified as Umesh Singh, 35, was shot dead by unidentified armed criminals at Baiju Tola under the jurisdiction of Revelganj police station in Saran district. The traders downed their shutters to protest against the incident.
Rs 20L liquor seizure
• Patna: Police seized consignments of 52 cartons of foreign liquor from Saran and 12 bottles from Khagaria on Thursday.
Police said the seized liquor manufactured in Haryana was estimated to be around Rs 20 lakh in the market.
Bodies found
• Bhagalpur: Police recovered the bodies of brothers Uchit Thakur (80) and Devu Thakur (75) from their house on Shitla Mandir Road near Tilka Manjhi police station on Thursday. The cops suspect the murders to be the fallout of a land dispute. A forensic team from Patna was sent to Bhagalpur to collect proof.
Suicide
• Gaya: A railway superviser, Vikas Sharma, allegedly hanged himself from a pfan in his Karshili house in Gaya on Thursday. Sharma's marriage was on the rocks, sources said. Cops have seized his mobile, which has a video of the suicide.
