Bihar government has issued a 'last warning' to the Tata Consultancy Services, asking it to fill up vacant posts at its business process outsourcing (BPO) centre in Bihar.
Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who holds charge of the information technology department, shared this information on Tuesday.
'TCS had been allotted 1,000 seats for its centre out of which it has made just 50 appointments,' Sushil said. 'The company has been issued a last warning to fill up the vacant posts.'
A total of 4,600 seats have been allotted to Bihar under the India BPO Promotion Scheme (IBPS) and the state has allocated 1,900 seats to different companies for setting up BPOs in the state.
Sushil said so far six companies have given employment to 680 persons. 'Interested firms can send tenders for the remaining 2,700 seats till October 25. Non-IT companies, too, can take part in the bidding process,' he said.
The state government, in association with the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), would organise a road show in Patna to draw the attention of companies for setting up BPOs in the state.
IBPS aims to promote BPOs for employment generation and a sum of Rs 1 lakh is given to the investor against every seat as viability gap funding.
A total of 48,300 seats have been allocated across the country for BPOs to be set up under the scheme. Of these, 4,600 seats have been earmarked for Bihar.
A sum of Rs 493 crore has been allocated for this scheme, Modi said.
