Patna, Nov. 1: The district administration started revision of electoral rolls from today.
The district administration has set the target of registering 1,79,423 new voters in the electoral list under the revision exercise by January 1 next year.
District magistrate Abhay Kumar Singh said the existing electoral list was published today, objections to which would be accepted till December 1. “We would hold special voter registration drive in the district on November 9 and 24. The disposal of the objections received on the existing electoral list would be done by December 16 and the final list would be published by January 15, next year,” Singh said.
The Assembly elections in Bihar are slated for October-November next year.
From today, residents whose names are not included in the voter list with photograph can register themselves under the revision exercise. The booth-level officer would sit in the respective booth from 10am to 5pm. The age criterion for inclusion in the voter list has been set as 18 years or above by January 1, 2015. Eligible voters can also apply online for enrolment in electoral list through the website of chief electoral officer, Bihar, ceobihar.nic.in.
The Patna DM also held a meeting today with representatives of political parties and urged them to appoint their booth-level agents on time. “Booth-level agents of political parties can submit only 10 voter registration forms to the officers along with an undertaking that they have personally verified the information given in the form,” said Singh. Voters can also apply for barcode-enabled electors photo identity card by paying a fee of Rs 30.
Illegal construction
Patna Municipal Corporation additional commissioner Shrisat Kapil Ashok said the civic body had sought support from the district administration for taking action on unauthorised construction at Brijnandan Apartment in Patna tomorrow.
