Vocational courses hit popularity chart - Students choose professional path at Patna Women's College, entrance tests next week

Vocational courses are the number one pick at Patna Women’s College these days. Rush of applicants at the institute’s counter is a steady fixture and looks to continue till Saturday.

Some popular vocational courses on offer include six undergraduate and three postgraduate diploma courses. The admission test results for all the undergraduate and postgraduate courses would be declared on June 1.

Aditi Singh collected an admission form for BSc undergraduate industrial microbiology course recently.

She said: “I have opted for the industrial microbiology course, which I feel would best suit me. Patna Women’s College, the most reputed institute in the state capital, provides the best education. If I get admission here, I will be fortunate.”The entrance test for the course will be conducted on May 22. It has 30 seats.

The other undergraduate courses are bachelor of computer applications (both BA and BSc), communicative English with media studies (in BA), advertising and sales management (in BA), bachelor of business administration and bachelor of mass communication. Three of the postgraduate courses include diplomas in computer applications, advertising and sales management and fashion designing. The duration of all the postgraduate courses, having 40 seats each, is one year. The first admission list for the postgraduate courses would be out on June 6. The list for bachelor of computer applications, bachelor of business administration, bachelor of mass communication and industrial microbiology would be out on June 8. The list for the remaining courses — advertising and sales management and communicative English and media studies — will be out on June 9. Nidhi Jha, who plans to study bachelor in computer applications, also believes Patna Women’s College to be the best pick.

She said: “I wanted to pursue engineering but could not. As I am interested in computers, I have decided to go for the bachelor in computer applications course.” Patna Women’s College has combined 80 seats for BA or BSc in the bachelor in computer applications course. The entrance test is scheduled for May 22. Those who qualify in the written test would have to appear in interviews on June 5 and 6. The interview dates for industrial microbiology are the same.

The entrance tests for bachelor of mass communication, which has 60 seats, communicative English and media studies (30 seats) and bachelor of business administration (60 seats) will be conducted on May 23.

All classes would start on July 2.
