Patna: The probe committee constituted by Patna University to verify qualifications of the newly elected Patna University Students Union (Pusu) office-bearers will submit its report to vice-chancellor Rash Bihari Prasad Singh this week.
After complaints from student organisations, the varsity had constituted a probe committee to verify the degrees of Pusu president Divyanshu Bhardwaj, vice-president Yushita Patwardhan and secretary Chand Azad.
Singh said: "The committee verifying the educational qualification and certificates of winning Pusu central panel members will submit its report by March 8, followed by which the candidates will get the winning certificates."
Some of the student bodies had alleged that the winning candidates have submitted either fake educational certificates or had hidden facts about their degrees during nomination for Pusu elections.
Gautam Anand, a student leader with the Jan Adhikar Chhatra Parishad (JACP), said: "Divyanshu Bhardwaj and Yushita Patwardhan had submitted fake degrees during nomination."
It has been alleged that Divyanshu took admission for an undergraduate course at Himalayan University in Itanagar after he failed in the first-year undergraduate course in BN College.
However he took admission at the Itanagar university without taking a migration certificate from Patna University.
Yoshita failed in her under-graduation part-I examination but she had hidden the fact from the university, it has been alleged.
Also some of the student leaders have claimed that JACP member and Pusu elected secretary Chand Azad too had hidden his educational qualifications during the nomination process.
On Monday the university administration was supposed to distribute Pusu certificates to the winning candidates (except to president, vice-president and secretary) but because of protests from some student leaders the university deferred the decision of distributing the certificates.
Sources said to verify the educational certificates of Pusu elected president Bhardwaj, the university had mailed the Himalayan University in Itanagar to verify his degree, but till date the PU administration have not received any reply from the university in Arunachal Pradesh.
