Patna, Feb. 25: Four teachers — Amarnath Singh (reader/professor-general category), P.K. Poddar (reader/professor- OBC category), Pushpanjali Khare (lecturer-general category) and Abhay Pra kash (lecturer- SC/ST category) were today elected to the syndicate of Patna University (PU).
PU registrar-cum-returning officer Vibhash Kumar Yadav said Sudhakar Singh and Nitish Kumar Tuntun (general category), Abdul Qayum Ansari ((OBC category) and Mahavir Das (SC/ST category) were declared elected in the non-teaching category. The election was held for each of four posts in the teaching and non-teaching categories.
There are 22 syndicate members that included the vice-chancellor, the pro-vice-chancellor, the proctor, the dean (students’ welfare), heads of departments of various postgraduate departments along with the chancellor and the state government representative (all ex-officio members in the panel). Of the 58 voters, three were held invalid, Yadav said, adding that three others did not turn to exercise their franchise in the syndicate election that was marked by protest by students’ unions of various political parties.
