Patna, Dec. 4: The city police nabbed two hardcore Maoists, who had escaped after Jehanabad jailbreak, from their hideouts under Paliganj police station today.

The arrested Maoists have been identified as Preman Kahar and Bharosa Mistri.

Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Alok Kumar said the two Maoists were wanted in half-a-dozen Maoist-related incidents in Patna and Arwal districts.

On the other hand, armed squad members of CPI(Maoist) set ablaze two mobile towers of a private telecommunication company in Aurangabad district on the first day of their 48-hour Bharat Bandh today.

The bandh has been called to protest the killing of their top leader Koteshwar Rao in an encounter with security personnel in Bengal.

Police said about a dozen Maoists stormed into Suhi village under Kutumba police station in the wee hours of Sunday and set on fire the mobile tower.

The Maoists at Golgariba village blasted another tower almost at the same time.

However, there was no report of any casualty or injury in the incidents.

The Maoists shouted slogans in protest against alleged police highhandedness and also left pamphlets, which were later recovered by the police.

Aurangabad superintendent of police (SP) Sidharth Mohan Jain said efforts were on to ascertain the identity of the Maoists involved in the two incidents.

He said the police are conducting search operations.

“Intensive search operation is being carried out in the areas considered to be influential pockets of the rebels,” the SP pointed out.
