Bodies of two youths were found on Tuesday morning at Udwant Nagar in Bhojpur district, barely four hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a rally around 14km away at Ramna Maidan in Ara.
Udwant Nagar police station received information around 6.45am about the bodies with multiple stab wounds lying on the outskirts of Dariyapur Kachhuara village. A police team headed by station house officer Rajiv Kumar rushed to the spot and sent the bodies to Ara Sadar hospital for post-mortem.
Agitated over the murders, residents blocked the Udawant Nagar-Ara road. The blockade was lifted after the intervention of senior cops.
Bhojpur superintendent of police Naveen Chandra Jha said the Udwant Nagar incident had nothing to do with the Prime Minister's visit. He said: "The deceased, identified as Birendra Nut and Dharmendra alias Mahendra Nut, were killed over old enmity."
The Prime Minister did not mention anything about the double murders at his Ara meeting but took a dig at the Bihar government at the meeting in Saharsa for the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
