Muzaffarpur, Nov. 15: The town is getting a complete makeover ahead of the four-day Seva Yatra of chief minister Nitish Kumar, scheduled to start tomorrow.

Senior officials, including divisional commissioner (Tirhut), deputy inspector-general of police (Tirhut range), district magistrate Santosh Kumar Mall and senior superintendent of police Rajesh Kumar, are busy taking stock of the preparations for the event.

Kutcha roads are being metalled overnight. Potholes are being filled up. Roadside encroachments are being removed. The government circuit house at Maripur area of the city, where Nitish would halt for four nights, is being beautified.

The administration is leaving nothing to chance and every pending work is being taken up on warfooting. Policemen have been deployed at each and every corner of the city.

Traffic constables are on their toes to ensure a smooth vehicular movement.

Sources said the roads in the township are also being repaired anticipating Nitish’s visit to Islampur.

The chief minister had expressed willingness to take stock of the plight of workers engaged in making shellac bangles.

Mall visited Islampur last night and interacted with the artisans. The chief minister would first visit Maoist-hit Minapur block of the district during his yatra.

Nitish is agog to see the ongoing construction of a bridge on Budhi Gandak river at Raghai Ghat at Minapur.

The chief minister will inaugurate 417 government schemes worth Rs 207 crore during the second leg of his Seva Yatra in the district.

Besides, he will lay the foundation of 121 government schemes worth Rs 67 crore.
