Patna, July 28: The June 14 Rajvanshi Nagar gangrape case has taken a new turn with the victim claiming that seven and not just four men tormented her. The vehicle in which the girl was taken to the flat was also recovered today.

The victim’s statement before the chief judicial magistrate recorded under Section 164 of CrPc on July 26 differs from the statement she had registered with the Bihar State Women’s Commission on July 18. In her court statement, the girl mentioned another person, taking the number of the accused to seven.

Of the seven accused, five are in custody. The police are trying to spot the sixth accused and are silent on the seventh.

In her court statement, the victim said the prime accused asked her to come near a Rajvanshi Nagar temple and then compelled her to accompany him to the flat in the vehicle found today. A man, who seemed to be a domestic help, opened the door of the flat. Later, the prime accused called five of his friends to the flat. But the victim has stated that seven persons committed the crime.

Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Amrit Raj told The Telegraph: “The police have recovered a Tata Safari (registration number KA-05ME-6142) from a Danapur garage, where it was apparently hidden by the flat owner who surrendered before the police last night. The car belongs to him. The name of another person, who, according to the girl, was in the flat and was also party to the crime, has emerged. The police are verifying it. The police have also recovered a lot of CDs from the flat, which could give us more leads. A couple of women’s garments have also been recovered from the flat.”
