Aditya Anand, a 15-year-old student and resident of Daltonganj in Jharkhand, has never been outside Bihar-Jharkhand. Now, he is set to visit Asian Research Institute, Bangkok and the University of Tokyo in Japan.
Aditya, along with two other students, Vinit Raj and Sumit Raj, will visit these two foreign universities based on his performance of "Solve and Win" contest, a mathematics test conducted by Super 30 run by Anand Kumar and United Group of Institutions, a Noida-based educational institution, in June and September last year.
Around 10,000 students from all over the state participated in the contest and based on the performance, the top three would get an opportunity to visit foreign institutions. United Group of Institutions is sponsoring their tour, too.
The list of students was jointly released on Monday by education department principal secretary D.S. Gangwar, United Group of Institutions chairman Girdhar Gopal Gulati and Anand.
Students who had completed their matriculation exam or are studying in Class XI appeared in the test.
The test comprises questions from mathematics, physics and chemistry much like IIT and other engineering entrance tests.
Gulati said some officials from his institute would accompany the students so that they do not face any problem during their tour. The institute will also bear the accommodation and food expenses of students.
Anand said: "It is just the beginning as in the near future more students will get the opportunity of visiting such foreign institutions based on their performance in 'Solve and Win' contest."
However, Super 30 has not decided when the next "Solve and Win" test would be held. Even the modalities of participation have not been finalised.
