Patna, Feb. 2: The state government has decided to introduce an eligibility test for teachers.
Aspirants for teaching jobs in government schools would now have to take a test before their recruitment.
“The state government has decided to introduce the eligibility test for recruitment of teachers at primary and secondary level schools,” said state human resource development (HRD) department principal secretary Anjani Kumar Singh. Preference would be given to candidates who clear it, during the next round of recruitment, said Singh.
The HRD department took the decision of introducing the test after the state government implemented the Right to Education Act, because of which a large number of teachers need to be recruited.
The government has planned to appoint three lakh teachers over the next three years. It has also sought an assistance of Rs 31,000 crore from the central government, to implement the act.
