Patna: It may have taken Amitabh Bachchan 22 years to start following the Congress on Twitter, but he did not take as much time to follow RJD chief Lalu Prasad's son , Tejashwi Prasad Yadav.

The Bollywood superstar began following the Bihar Leader of the Opposition Twitter, who was once the youngest deputy chief minister in the country, from February 2.

"I am really privileged that a personality like Amitabh Bachchan ji, who is a world-renowned actor, started following me on Twitter on February 2," Tejashwi told The Telegraph over phone from Katihar.

Till Saturday, Bachchan had 33 million followers, whereas the RJD leader was 81,000 followers short of the one million-mark.

Tejashwi, who joined Twitter in December 2013, has 9.19 lakh followers. His father, Lalu, will in a few days touch the 4 million-mark on Twitter, equalling the Congress's 3.98 million followers on the medium.

Lalu has the maximum number of Twitter followers in Bihar, more than chief minister Nitish Kumar (3.61 million) and deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi (1.46 million).

It's been more than a week that Bachchan began following Tejashwi, who has a long list of followers from all sections of society, be it Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Congress president Rahul Gandhi. Even writers like Chetan Bhagat follow Tejashwi and they frequently interact.

Tejashwi extended his wishes for Bachchan's speedy recovery. The superstar was briefly admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai after he complained of lower back pain.

"I have come to know that he was admitted to the hospital yesterday. I do not have any update but I pray for his fast recovery," Tejashwi said.

Last year in August, Tejashwi had spit venom at the superstar and alleged he had connections in the Panama Papers case. The young RJD leader had demanded an investigation into his role in the case. Bachchan's name had figured in the Panama Papers - a trove of 11.5 million leaked documents that spilled financial and other details of many entities worldwide that were linked to Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca - but the actor had vehemently denied any link.

Not only Tejashwi, even Lalu had showed his anger against the star. Much before the Grand Alliance was formed in Bihar, Lalu had declared that Bachchan was his least likeable actor.

"Amitabh Bachchan mera sabse napasand kalakar hai (Amitabh Bachchan is my least likeable actor)," Lalu had said after Bachchan praised chief minister Nitish Kumar in 2011.
