Patna: Another alliance with Nitish Kumar is out of the question, RJD leader Tejash-wi Prasad Yadav said on Tuesday amid buzz of growing differences between the JDU and the BJP over the seat-sharing formula for next year's general election and of the Bihar Congress leadership's willingness to join hands with Nitish Kumar once again if he snaps ties with the BJP.
There have also been speculative news reports claiming that Nitish's JDU is exploring options beyond the BJP-led alliance.
"Doors for Nitish Kumar are permanently closed for an alliance," Tejashwi said on Tuesday, nixing such speculation.
"Nitish Kumar is a turncoat; he has lost his political credibility after switching sides to go with the NDA. No alliance will accept Nitish as his credibility is at stake - whether he will remain with the alliance permanently or not," he added.
Tejashwi's statement came against the backdrop of several Congress leaders making favourable comments on having Nitish in a bigger alliance to defeat the BJP.
Shaktisinh Gohil, the Congress' Bihar in-charge, recently said that the Mahagathbandhan can be revived only if Nitish cuts ties with the BJP-led NDA.
Gohil had also said that if that possibility emerges, the Congress leadership will discuss with their allies.
In July last year, Nitish had walked out of the Grand Alliance with the RJD and Congress, citing corruption charges on Lalu Prasad and his family members.
Asked about the remarks of the Congress leadership, Tejashwi said on Tuesday: "I don't know what the state Congress leadership had said about having alliance with Nitish, but I have direct access with Congress president Rahul Gandhi and have informed him about our party stand of not having alliance with Nitish Kumar in future."
The RJD chief's younger son added: "If needed I will again meet Rahul Gandhi and clear our party stand of not having alliance with Nitish in future."
Nitish has no vote bank of his own and to be in power always rides on other people's shoulders, Tejashwi declared.
Tejashwi cited the example of the 2014 Lok Sabha election that the JDU fought separately and won just two seats from Bihar.
The RJD has a new ally in the form of former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi's HAMS.
Manjhi had on Monday said that if Nitish opts to quit office, Tejashwi would be an ideal replacement. Manjhi quit the NDA in February this year.
