Patna: Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Wednesday wrote an open letter to chief minister Nitish Kumar, accusing him of giving moral support to those spreading communal disharmony.
Tejashwi wrote that by not taking action against Union ministers Giriraj Singh and Ashwini Choubey , the chief minister was supporting their agenda of polarising society for electoral gains.
Tejashwi in the letter, written in Hindi, said that it a is "well known fact" that the BJP uses the tool of social strife for electoral gains but the RJD has failed to understand the reason behind Nitish giving moral support to the saffron party.
"Ever since the NDA government has formed in Bihar, incidents of communal tension have increased manifold. There is a conspiracy on to spread rumours against a particular community to divide the people on communal lines. Without permission a procession was taken out by a BJP Union minister's son followed by communal tension in the area," Tejashwi said, referring to Ashwini's son Arjit Shashwat.
Nitish has never publicly protested against the BJP's policy of dividing society by creating communal tension and the silence proves his moral support to the BJP's policy, Tejashwi wrote.
He claimed that Nitish's claim of bringing development to Bihar is false.
"I beg to differ that you do politics of development. When there is fire in the society, how is developmental politics possible? Your government is willing to divide society. Your dual character will finish Bihar's rich culture and tradition," Tejashwi wrote.
He taunted that celebrating the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi's Champaran Satyagraha and running the government with Gandhi's murderers cannot go on together. He alleged that by running the government in alliance with the BJP, Nitish has "morally murdered" Gandhi.
"I know that you can go to an any extent for the sake of your chair (read CM's post), but I beg of you with folded hands to think beyond political gain and look towards the people of Bihar," Tejashwi wrote.
Later in the Assembly, Tejashwi asked why Arjit Shashwat has not been arrested yet.
" Mukhyamantri khoon ki Holi khelna chahte hai (CM wants to play Holi with blood)," Tejashwi alleged.
On Monday as well as Tuesday, Nitish had publicly said that he will not compromise with those causing social strife, which was interpreted as a message to the BJP.
