Patna: Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Thursday met his ailing father Lalu Prasad at AIIMS, New Delhi, and expressed his concern over his health.
Soon after meeting his father, Tejashwi posted on his Twitter handle saying: "Met my father after long for few minutes in AIIMS, Delhi. Worried about his health. Didn't observe much improvement. At his age, he needs continuous care and monitoring of vital parameters."
Tejashwi, however, did not complain about the treatment his father was getting in the hospital and posted another tweet: "The consolation to us & people of Bihar is that @laluprasadrjd Ji is in a better hospital. We really wish & pray that He may recover to a better state than he was in before."
During the 10-minute meeting with his father, Tejashwi enquired about the treatment his father was receiving there and also met the doctor about this health. The last time Tejashwi had met Lalu was on March 18, when he was in Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).
The young RJD leader and former deputy chief minister was meeting his father, who is suffering from multiple diseases for more than a month. However, on April 6, his elder brother and former health minister Tej Pratap Yadav had met Lalu.
Tej Pratap had gone to seek the blessings of his father after the date of his wedding with Aishwarya Rai (former minister Chandrika Rai's daughter) was fixed.
Asked about the any specific talk over any issue, Tejashwi told The Telegraph over phone: "He just enquired about the health of my mother and asked about how everyone was doing in the family. He also enquired about the engagement of my elder brother which passed peacefully."
Tejashwi is in Delhi for the past six days and is likely to return to Patna on April 27. The question of Lalu attending the wedding of his elder son is still haunting the family members, as chances of getting parole from the court is gloomy.
The last time, the entire family missed Lalu during Tej's engagement. "It all depends on the court whether he gets parole or not. However, we all are hopeful that he will be around us on the day of the wedding," said Tejashwi.
Legal experts opined that it was easy to get parole if the person is in jail but once the person is in hospital under the care of doctors, it becomes really difficult to get parole because the person is shifted from the jail to the hospital on health grounds, which proves he is not fit to move around.
Lalu's family is busy in the preparations for the wedding of Tej, which will take place on May 12 at Patna's Veterinary Grounds. Cards have already been published and are being distributed. The cards are also being sent to chief minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi.
It is all likely that cards would also be sent to all the senior leaders of the BJP and cabinet ministers, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and President Ram Nath Kovind.
