Patna, Dec. 24: All police stations under the Patna and Bhagalpur zones will soon be connected with the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network (CCTN) system.

As part of the scheme, first information reports will be lodged online and the complainants can check out updates about their cases round-the-clock. According to sources, a modern control room is being set up at the state police headquarters to monitor the system. The scheme, sponsored by the Centre, will ensure that officers from the rank of assistant sub-inspectors to senior IPS officers receive training on computer operation and how to upload data.

The computers installed at the police stations will be connected with the State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB). The additional director-general, SCRB, who has been appointed the state mission leader of the programme, will be in touch with officials of the National Crime Records Bureau to get detail information about the project. The state mission leader has been asked to hold meetings with officers of the two police zones every two months to complete the project within six months.

Bihar Military Police inspector-general Jitendra Ku-mar has been appointed the nodal officer of the project. “Most police stations have been provided with computers,” said a senior police officer associated with the project.

The state police headquarters had recently sent letters to superintendents of police of the two zones to prepare a list of officers with science background. These officers will get training on computer operation and how to upload data. “Training centres will be set up at the district headquarters,” the officer added.
