Bihar State AIDS Control Society will provide computers to all blood banks across the state to maintain records of regular donors.

“Voluntary blood donation has gone up in the past few decades. We are getting donors who frequently visit blood banks. Besides, we want to improve the condition of blood banks. For this, we will soon provide computers to all blood banks across the state. The move will help us maintain the record of blood donors,” Dr. Sanjeeb Kumar Sinha, project director, Bihar State Aids Control Society, said on Wednesday.

“At present, we are maintaining records of blood donors manually. However, the technology will help us do this job in a more effective way,” he added.

Sinha said a decision to this effect was taken at a meeting convened by Vyasji, the principal secretary of the health department, on Tuesday.

The project director of the Bihar State Aids Control Society added that the state would get two new Anti Retroviral Treatment (ART) centres soon. “The centres would come at Vaishali and Begusarai. An ART centre was opened in Sitamarhi two days ago,” he said, adding that the number of AIDS patients was high in the three districts.
