Patna, May 27: New Mahavir Colony resident Anjali Kumari committed suicide lying down in front of a train at Agamkuan after failing in the CBSE Plus Two exam.

Sources said the 17-year-old student of Keshav Ramanuj High School went to a cyber café this morning to check her results. When she found that she had flunked, she headed for the railway tracks, where she was crushed to death by North East Express (2505 Up).

A Government Railway Police officer at Rajendra Nagar Terminal said the incident occurred around 11.30am.

Anjali’s father Nand Kishore Prasad is a businessman based in Raghopur.

When Anjali’s family members learnt about the incident, they rushed to the spot on a motorbike and took her body away. Later, they handed it over to the police for a post-mortem.

“Around 10am, Anjali started for a local cyber café to check her Plus Two results. She took out a printout of the result and headed straight to the railway tracks. She lay down on the tracks and a train crushed her to death. Some residents of the area rushed to the spot with a constable patrolling the area. After sometime, two family members of Anjali came to the spot on a bike, picked up the girl’s body and left,” a GRP officer said.

He added: “No charges will be pressed against them. We understand that they are in a state of shock.”

Sources claimed that Anjali was a fun-loving girl and an average student. “The parents shouldn’t leave their children alone on the day of the results. Someone should have accompanied her,” a neighbour of the victim said.

On May 22, Rashmi Rati, 18, a student of Muslim High School, committed suicide by jumping off a multi-storeyed building on Exhibition Road fearing that she would fail.
