Patna, Dec. 7: Credibility of non-government organisations (NGOs) is often questioned. But success stories of various NGOs in the state will soon be out in the open for the authorities to see.
Voluntary Action Network India (VANI), a Delhi-based apex body of voluntary organisations, will release a book documenting the work done by NGOs in the state at the grassroots level on December 19.
Harsh Jaitli, chief executive officer, VANI, announced this today at a seminar, Achievements and Challenges of NGOs in Bihar, organised in collaboration with AIDS Bhedbhav Virodhi Andolan on the premises of Indian Institute of Business Management (IIBM). He said the documentation would highlight the work done by the NGOs for development of the state.
The book, which will be released at IIBM in the presence of representatives from different NGOs, will be forwarded to all state government departments.
Jaitli said: “People have been raising questions about the credibility of NGOs. It’s high time for the organisations to prove their credibility among people and even the state government, which takes us for granted while formulating policies. NGOs have a glorious history in the state and have played an important part in several movements, like the JP Movement. The roles of NGOs in the present development of the state cannot be ignored either.”
